I bought a red Pebble smartwatch and have been getting it to work with my Lumia 735. I knew it was an Android and iPhone-compatible model but there is some Windows Phone software for it.
The device has a plastic strap and perspex finish, and a backlit monochrome display. There are customisable watch faces, a music player, weather and Twitter notifications. At this stage the phone sync functionality is done with third party software, so Facebook, calls and texts are pending. The calendar function is untested at this stage – will have to wait until later in the week.
It’s great to change tracks without removing your phone and the Twitter notifications can be read without being rude. The Bluetooth connection is quite stable, given that it’s not out-of-the-box software.
One thing I find interesting is that this is really the first generation of devices – it will be better when there is storage and network addressing built into the wearable tech. Here’s hoping that the next generation will be even better.
